Get Up and Dance DJ has been in business since 1996, serving the Illinois Valley and North - central Illinois area. Rodney and Jane Schomas are a husband-wife team that will serve as your master of ceremonies and event co-ordinaters, making your reception the best it could possibly be. They have an extensive dance background, and a play list that reflects genres from the ' 20's through today. They stay current through frequent updating of their music library by both purchasing cd's and downloading the newest top hits, with a current library of over 2000 discs.

Get up and Dance will arrive at your location one hour prior to the scheduled start time to ensure that all music and lights are ready to go before any guests begin arriving. Cocktail/dinner music is usually easy listening, utilizing a lot of standards such as Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington and Bobby Darin. After dinner, we begin all your specialty dances (first dance, father/bride, mother/groom, bouquet/garter, dollar dance, bridal party dance). By doing all the specialty dances in a group, photographers can get all the important pictures they need at one time. Once the specialty dances are done, we can start the party! We do everything within our power to get your guests out on the dance floor having a great time. We also take requests (within reason), and will play as many as we can during our time together. Our objective is to make your reception the best it could possibly be.

We are also dance instructors, and have been teaching since 1993. We would love to help you with some moves for your first dance, to help you feel more comfortable during that special time of the evening. Let us know if this is something you would be interested in, and we'll set up a lesson time!

As an added bonus, Jane has been recently ordained, and would be happy to perform your ceremony for you, as well.
